A symphony of dance, music by Italian composer Ezio Bosso and costume design by Josh Goot, this emotive work will take your breath away.

ASCENT

Ascent co-commissioned by the Canberra Theatre Centre is an inspired triple bill featuring the reprise of Antony Hamilton’s Helpmann Award-winning Forever & Ever, and world premieres by renowned international choreographers Marina Mascarell and Rafael Bonachela.

Brimming with physicality, Ascent tempers contemporary classical with futuristic experimentation. Full of electric movement and emotional force, Ascent is an arresting portrait of contemporary dance and its potential to move, excite and activate audiences.

Brought to life by Sydney Dance Company’s superb ensemble, this triple bill is complete with inventive installations and magnetic musical scores.

In November 2023 we bring you Up Close – a never-before-seen season in our Neilson Studio at Sydney Dance Company.

This intimate setting will provide you with unparalleled connection to our Company dancers, as you witness their formidable artistry and breathtaking physicality up close.

Our first season of Up Close presents Somos, a new world premiere by Rafael Bonachela. Meaning “we are” in Spanish, this new work will feature a cascade of intimate solos, duets and trios with a distinct Latin flavour.

With the unwavering support of The Balnaves Foundation, New Breed has seen more than 34 emerging dance artists present world premiere works on the Company since its inception in 2013.
