Information
Raw Models by Jacopo Godani had its world premiere in 2011, presented alongside LANDforms by Rafael Bonachela as part of the double bill season, Shared Frequencies.
It then returned for the triple bill Interplay in 2014, before touring across Europe and Latin America.
Daring and sexy, Italy’s Jacopo Godani makes work that pushes the dancers to their limits. His first Australia work, Raw Models is set to a composition by German electronica duo 48 Nord. The work is a sinuous, sexy testament to the infinite malleability of the human body.
Jacopo Godani has choreographed for some of the world’s leading companies including Nederlands Dans Theater and the Royal Ballet, London.

“Godani shook the audience by their shoulders, threw them back in their seats and left them wanting more” – Dance Australia
“Sydney Dance Company is at the peak of its powers in Shared Frequencies” – Sun-Herald
“Raw Models, is undeniably sexy. It is also slick, sinister, and not a little unnerving” – City News
“Raw Models, is where it’s at. Self-destruction never looked so seductive… The show is insidiously sexy.” – FBi Radio
“Godani’s Raw Models is cool and ultra-sleek…Bonachela’s LANDforms is warmth, connection and feeling” – The Australian

★★★★“Raw Models is one of the most exciting dance pieces we’re likely to see in Melbourne this year.’ – The Age
‘Raw Models is a full and accomplished piece of contemporary art in which the dancers come into their own; their faces gleam with animal-like hunger and intensity as their leotard-wrapped bodies erupt in movement – large, grotesque and divine.’ – Dance Australia
‘Rafael Bonachela takes on Bach’s Violin Partita No 2 in D Minor for an intellectually challenging engagement between movement and music; the second new piece, Gideon Obarzanek’s L’Chaim!, has heart and joy; and the revival of Jacopo Godani’s Raw Models well, that gives the libido a workout.’ – The Australian
‘Raw Models… sexy septet that absolutely explodes out of its boxy black set… a visual knock out’ – Sunday Herald Sun
