
Mali Comlekci
Born on the land of the Dharug people in Sydney and with Turkish background, Mali Comlekci began formal dance lessons at the age of ten attending Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, graduating in Year 12.
Mali pursued full-time classical ballet training and attended New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD). In his two years of full-time training, he was invited to be a guest dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company performing soloist roles for two of their performance seasons, Wizard of Oz in 2016 and the Three by Ekman triple bill in 2017. During his time at NZSD he also trained under James O’Hara, Tor Columbus and Jarek Cemerek, amongst others.
Following his graduation, Mali joined Queensland Ballet Company in 2018 as a Jette Parker Young Artist and was promoted to Company Artist in 2019. During his career at Queensland Ballet, Mali performed in various soloist and principal roles. He has had the privilege of working and learning from an extensive list of renowned choreographers and their repertoire, including Alexander Ekman, Francesco Ventriglia, Jiří Bubeníček, George Balanchine, Val Caniparoli, Jack Lister, Gabrielle Nankivell, Craig Davidson, Amy Hollingsworth, Stephanie Lake, Lucy Guerin, Christopher Bruce, Katina Olsen, Remi Wortmeyer, Natalie Weir, Kryzystof Pastor, Liam Scarlett, Derek Deanne, Harald Lander and Sir Kenneth MacMillan.
