For 40 years, Sydney Dance Company has called Walsh Bay Arts Precinct home; a place where artists, audiences and community have come together and been inspired by dance.

This Open Day, we’re opening our doors for a full day of dance, performance and celebration. Take a FREE taster class, bring the family, experience an open rehearsal with the Sydney Dance Company Ensemble, enjoy live performances and discover more of what happens here at the Wharf.

With more than 80 classes each week, Sydney Dance Company’s Open Classes bring together a vibrant community of dancers across a range of styles and experience levels.

Designed for adults aged 16+, our classes are open to everyone, whether you’re stepping into the studio for the first time, returning to dance or looking for somewhere to train regularly.

Open Day is your chance to experience our classes for FREE, with taster sessions across a range of styles throughout the day.

Former on-screen rivals turned real-life best friends, Dena Amy Kaplan and Alicia Banit, are bringing their hit podcast, Life Academy, to Sydney Dance Company for a special live event.

Join them in the very place where Dance Academy was filmed and captured the hearts of fans around the world — from the iconic water balloon fight on the stairs to Sammy and Abigail’s first kiss and the unforgettable moment Tara broke her leg.

Featuring surprise special guests, audience participation, a meet and greet, and 90 minutes of candid conversations, behind-the-scenes stories and nostalgic memories, this is your chance to experience Life Academy: Live!

See the next generation of artists come together in a special performance by Sydney Dance Company’s Primary Youth Ensemble and Gondwana Junior Choir.

Our Youth Ensembles provides young dancers with the opportunity to develop their contemporary dance practice and experience working and performing in a range of contemporary dance contexts.

Together with the young voices of Gondwana Junior Choir, they’ll present a special performance as part of our Open Day and 40 Years at the Wharf celebrations.
