HSC composition workshop (for Grade 11 and 12 students only)
Designed for students studying HSC dance, participants will investigate the creative process involved in developing a theme and using creative tasks to generate new movement and enhance a motif. This two day composition workshop will equip participants with techniques to explore different stimuli to inspire their core or major composition pieces for HSC Dance. Students will have access to a range of Teaching Artists and Choreographers that work with Sydney Dance Company enabling them to unlock diverse ways of approaching choreography in the same way our professional dancers work in the studio.

Intensive Contemporary workshop (for 14 to 18 years)
Sydney Dance Company’s intensive workshop for senior experienced dance students will provide an insight into the full-time Pre-Professional Year course. Experience two days of training with yoga and ballet classes followed by sessions focusing on technique, task work and improvisation. At the end of each day work with a previous company member to learn Sydney Dance Company repertoire choreographed by Rafael Bonachela.

Jazz, Hip Hop, JFH and Theatre Jazz (for 8 to 18 years)
Over two fun filled and challenging days, explore four dynamic dance styles. Each session participate in an intensive warm up and learn an original routine taught by our expert dance teachers. Enhance flexibility and movement in a Jazz class. Learn inventive, high energy Hip Hop and Street Dance routines and discover how to generate your own creative and unique movement. Combine skills learned in the morning sessions in a JFH (Jazz Funk and Hip Hop) class where you will learn routines similar to those seen in popular dance videos. Then showcase your performance skills in a Theatre Jazz class as you learn a routine from musical theatre.

Contemporary and Lyrical (for 8 to 11 years)
Work with skilled choreographers on four different routines as you build a strong foundation of core technique. Explore the fluidity of movement and control that is required when performing Lyrical dance. Then focus on the more abstract form of Contemporary dance. Uncover your natural movement whilst developing personal interpretation and self-expression.

Contemporary and Lyrical Extended (for 12 to 18 years)
In addition to learning contemporary and lyrical choreography, explore creative task work and improvisation exercises that the Sydney Dance Company use when creating original work. Students will learn a range of techniques and various approaches to developing their own movement. Work creatively with other dancers, creating dynamic, personal and original work to share with family and friends at the end of the three days.

Boys Only Hip Hop (for 8 to 12 years)
This Boys Only Hip Hop Workshop will focus on freestyle techniques building confidence, creativity and imagination to help develop your own unique style in Break Dancing, Popping and Hip Hop. You will learn technique and choreography from Sydney Dance Company’s experienced teachers and have the opportunity to improve your performance skills, create your own work and develop your personal style.
