Perth born Latisha Sparks joined the Company in March this year as we began our National Tour of the exhilarating double bill, CounterMove
Latisha began dancing with the Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre at the age of 4. In 2010 she moved to Melbourne to attend the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS), where she was awarded the Anne Woolliams Scholarship, and received her RAD Solo Seal in her final year of secondary schooling.
Latisha then decided to further her contemporary studies at The New Zealand School Of Dance (NZSD), in Wellington. Graduating in 2015 with her Diploma in Dance Performance, a major highlight of her time at the school was being invited to work and perform in the Metamorphosis Summer Residency in Mexico with Iratxe Ansa.
During her studies at VCASS and NZSD, she worked with guest choreographers Tim Harbour (Carmen and Jose 2011), Matthew Thompson (The Firebird 2012), Ursula Robb, Lina Limosani, Craig Bary, Douglas Wright (Rapt excerpts), Mahlia Johnston (Trigger II & World Of WearableArt awards show), Ross McCormack (Tempo Festival 2015- Preface), Thomas Bradley (Cnoditions of Entry), Sarah Foster Sproull (PAX) and Iratxe Ansa (Metamorphosis 2015).
You can watch Latisha perform in our upcoming productionUntamed, featuring a new vibrant work from Rafael Bonachela and the return of Gabrielle Nankivell’s smash hit Wildebeest in Sydney this October.
