2014 is Sydney Dance Company’s 45th anniversary year and we are proud to reflect on the past while planning for the future by preserving the works of one of Australia’s greatest choreographers and most influential artists, Graeme Murphy AO.
This year we’ve commenced work on editing and digitising, for the purpose of preservation, archival film and video recordings of some of the major works created by our long-standing former Artistic Director, and his Creative Associate, Janet Vernon AM.
Ex-dancers and old friends of the Company have been invited to a free private screening of excerpts of this Heritage Collection. The event will be held at Sydney Theatre on Saturday 18 October at 4pm. Graeme will introduce these short film excerpts and will take part in a Q&A session.
Any ex dancers who we’ve not managed to reach with an invitation for this special event, please contact [email protected]
If you were a dancer or creative collaborator with Sydney Dance Company, performed or were employed on any of Graeme’s Sydney Dance Company productions, your image or images of your work may be included in the excerpts that will be screened. If you object to your image or images of your work being included, please contact [email protected].
If you know anyone else who might be affected please pass this information on so they have an opportunity to respond.
