Sydney Dance Company’s school matinees connect school students to the dancers, choreographers, artistic collaborators and the creative process. We share our cutting edge contemporary dance performances with school audiences in a specially designed program that includes pre-show talks, demonstrations and Q&A about the performance.

“… students have the opportunity to see the dancers warming up and doing technique exercises that are very similar to what they are expected to do in their own classes. They experience viewing extremely talented technicians and performers. Through watching your dancers perform and hearing from the choreographers on the process of creating it helps to reinforce the message that I give each lesson but may not be appreciated because I am the teacher and you are the professionals. In particular for my boys they see strong male role models work as professional dancers.”

Each school matinee is accompanied by curriculum relevant resources.
