Sydney Dance Company’s school matinees connect school students to the dancers, choreographers, artistic collaborators, and other behind the scenes show secrets. We share our cutting edge contemporary dance performances with school audiences in a specially designed program that includes a range of activities including pre-show talks, demonstrations and interviews about the performance.
Each school matinee is accompanied by a curriculum relevant resource pack. These are available for free to teachers who book a group of students to watch the show (matinees or evening performances).
Secondary students will be enlightened to the process Sydney Dance Company professional dancers undertake to develop and create a brand new work based on stimuli and creative tasks set by Artistic Director, Rafael Bonachela.
In a specially designed and extended matinee program, students experience talks and demonstrations from members of the creative and performance teams. Highlighting the types of choreographic tools and performance elements utilised in the creation of Sydney Dance Company’s contemporary dance works.
Each secondary school matinee is accompanied by a free curriculum relevant resource pack. Students and teachers will have access to information such as: the theme and or stimulus for the work, use of space, time, dynamics and creative tasks for students to try in the classroom.
