360°

Choreographed by: Rafael Bonachela

Rafael Bonachela‘s  powerful and cutting edge work 360° created a firestorm of interest when it opened at Carriageworks in Sydney in 2008, praised for its beauty, energy and skill of the Sydney Dance Company dancers.

Bonachela’s movement communicates in vivid and powerful terms about the human condition and human relationships.  The mood ranges from seriousness to sexy – it’s  furious, energetic, emotional and liquid.

Barcelona-born, Rafael Bonachela has been described by ID Magazine as the “hottest of international talent”.  His rise has been a fast upward trajectory. Arriving in London at 16 to join the Rambert Company as a principal dancer, he was soon choreographing works for the Company.  He then went on to win the inaugural Place Prize for Choreography, picking up the dance world’s biggest cheque. Famed for his collaboration with musicians and designers, Bonachela’s work moves effortlessly between the mainstream and the avant-garde.

360° was Rafael Bonachela’s first commission for an Australian dance company.
