Choreographer, Pictures of a One Night Stand, New Breed
Biography

Born in New Zealand in 1977, Craig graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 1998 with a Diploma in Dance Performance. Craig has performed with prestigious companies and choreographers such as The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Footnote Dance Company, Lyn Pringle, Paul Jendon, Douglas Wright Dance Company, Raewyn Hill’s Soapbox Productions and Michael Parmenter’s Commotion Dance Company.

Craig’s debut in Australia was with Garry Stewart’s Thwack Dance Company in 1999. He was one of the dancer’s in Housedance, performed on the sails of the Sydney Opera House, New Year’s Eve 2000. He joined Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) when Garry Stewart began as Artistic Director and toured extensively to New York, Canada, Korea, Ireland and throughout Australia in the two years he worked at ADT. While there he also worked with Kate Denborough on Misfit, a show premiering Powerskips, (stilt like contraptions with the ability to project you metres into the air). Craig returned to New Zealand to work with Douglas Wright on Inland, a work featured in the 2002 New Zealand International Festival. He has also choreographed two short works, Reincarnated and Tetrad.

Craig joined Tasdance in 2002 and performed in Fair Game, Ripple Effect and the Victorian tour of Treasured Island. Craig danced with Tasdance until 2005. During this time he also had the opportunity work with Gideon Obarzanek’s Chunky Move and the Sue Healey Dance Company.

Craig choreographed Pictures of a One Night Stand for New Breed as part of Sydney Opera House’s Spring Dance Festival in 2009, featuring Sydney Dance Company dancers. He has also taught Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year and choreographed It’s a Duet and restaged Tanja Liedtke’s To My Suite with Kristina Chan for their 2014 Graduation Performance, PPY14 Revealed.
