Olympia Kotopoulos

Born in Sydney, Olympia Kotopoulos commenced her dance studies in South Australia with Mitcham Dance Studios followed by The Dance Spot in NSW.

In 2014 Olympia started full-time training after acceptance into the inaugural year of Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional program.

During this year Olympia was awarded the opportunity to understudy Company members of Sydney Dance Company for their season of Louder than Words with works by Andonis Foniadakis and Rafael Bonachela and Cass Mortimer’s Dogs and Baristas in Sydney Dance Company and Carriageworks’ New Breed program.

Olympia was a part of the creative development process and acted as understudy for Inside There Falls, an installation creation by Mira Calix in collaboration with Rafael Bonachela for the 2015 Sydney Festival.  Working closely throughout the Pre-Professional Year with Dean Walsh opened up the opportunity for Olympia to be part of his work in progress project Intrusions.

In completion of the Pre-Professional Year, Olympia was offered a contract to work professionally with Sydney Dance Company as an Associate Artist for Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s Le Grand Tango in April 2015 where she will be working with choreographers Rafael Bonachela, Lucas Jervies and Cass Mortimer Eipper.
