Get in good condition with our new addition!

Join us every Monday from 12.30pm to 1.30pm for some lunch-time fitness in Body Conditioning with Brian Carbee.

Body Conditioning combines yoga practice with Pilates, and incorporates stretch and conditioning techniques borrowed from ballet and contemporary dance. Working on the mat as well as at the barre, Body Conditioningemphasises integration of breath and movement, core strength, alignment, and unlocking the deep muscles around the pelvis with the aim of developing strong, supple, articulate bodies.

The class is suitable for students of all ages and abilities and would be ideal for students wishing to condition their bodies in preparation for starting (or resuming) dance training, also for experienced dancers, who wish to improve their conditioning, and for non-dancers who would like to get into shape. Body Conditioning is challenging, invigorating, informative and fun.

Brian Carbee is a veteran teacher here at the Sydney Dance Company Studios and is one of Australia’s most respected contemporary technique teachers. He has performed and choreographed a variety of works across the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Brian has also taught company classes for Australian Dance Theatre, Chunky Move, Bangarra Dance Theatre as well as several terms at NIDA, NAISDA, Brent Street and the UNITEC Performing Arts School in New Zealand where he was instrumental in the development of their degree program.

Body Conditioning is suitable for all levels including beginners.
