Kate joined Sydney Dance Company as the Business Development Manager in 2015. Prior to that Kate worked as an investment banker in London, before returning home to start a new career in the arts – via architecture school.
“I think I have always known that the corporate space and artistic universe needed to collaborate more – to get the best out of both worlds – but it wasn’t until I sat in a studio and watched Rafael (Sydney Dance Company’s Artistic Director) make a work that I understood how that could happen. My light bulb moment was realising how practical and real the creative process was – it’s not the magic you see on stage, it’s setting tasks and iterating and debating with your collaborators until you find a pathway that produces something inspiring. My job is to help corporates find a way to collaborate with Artists – so that companies can continue to find pathways into the future.”
