Richard Tanumi

Teacher

Born in Sydney Australia, Richard’s mother is from Soso Kandavu Fiji his father from Islington London England.  At the age of 5 he took piano lessons and trained in dance and singing.  Inspired by his family and peers with influences such as Stevie Wonder and Eric Benet that was on constant rotation within the walls of the Tanumi home, made him determined to follow his dreams in all aspects of performance.  In his teens Richard then began dancing professionally alongside artists such as Fergie on the MTV awards Australia.  He has performed with Crystal Waters, Niki French, Christina Anu, Shauna Jenson, Paulini and Marcia and Denni Hines.  He has performed in video clips for James Kannis ” Love to love” and Young Divas.   Richard then secured a role in “The Boy from Oz” with Hugh jackman but unfortunately, after only a short time he fractured his foot which stopped his dancing for a short period.  This unfortunate accident kept Richard from performing for a few months but turned out to be a positive in his life – a blessing in disguise and a twist of fate – forcing him to to concentrate on his singing, with soulful R&B tone and vocals that are so smooth they would carry on the wind he began writing, and unleashing his talents on paper. Writing and composing ” Wait awhile..”,  ”Can”t Sleep” and “Feel Alright” and co-writing “Toxic Love”, “Do or Die”, “Incredible”, “Be with u later” and “Way that I love ya”.  Working with producers such as Don Dolla and Israel, Richard is continuing his journey on the creative path, not only singing but also with his new found love of writing.
