Kristian Pellisier

Teacher

Kristian is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School(VCASS) and the Australian Ballet School(2001). At VCASS, Kristian was trained in ballet, kinetics, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, gymnastics, acrobatics, ethnic and Spanish dance styles. He was the recipient of the Anne Woolliams Award for dedication and excellence in Dance (1997) and the Lucie Saronova Memorial Scholarship(1998) for Cecchetti, receiving Honours for the Elementary and Intermediate Cecchetti in the same year. At the Australian Ballet School, Kristian was the recipient of the RMIT Theatre Studies Award, Michael Easton Scholarship(1999 and 2000) and the Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship(2001). Kristian was the founding member of a Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada(2002), where he performed numerous soloist roles. He has also performed with Bondi Ballet, Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet, The Dancers Company and Sydney Dance Company, Expressions Dance Company and Royal New Zealand Ballet on secondment. He has performed roles from Flower festival at Genzano, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Symphony in D and The Nutcracker and created solos in both classical and contemporary works for various choreographers including Jason Pitt, Jiri Kylian, Simone Clifford, Derek Dean, Paulina Quinteros and Graeme Murphy. Kristian has worked as a guest teacher for various schools in Sydney as well as adjudicated for the Xtreme Dance Eisteddford and Mc Donald’s Performing Arts Challenge. He has also received choreographic training during the time at VCASS and ABS and the first work he created is used as an aid for teaching the dance composition process for dance Units 1 and 2 of VCE(Victorian Certificate of Education. Kristian is currently studying a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at UTS. Kristian received the title of “Yoga Siromani” (Yoga Teacher) through the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and is studying for the Associate Diploma in Cecchetti Teaching through the Classical Ballet Cecchetti Society of Australia Inc. Kristian has recently been offered a character role in Bruce Bereford’s upcoming feature film “Mao’s Last Dancer” choreographed by Graeme Murphy.
