Alvin de Castro – dancer / choreographer is one of Australia’s most recognised urban choreographers and continues to turn heads internationally wth projects in Asia and the United States. Originally from Melbourne, Alvin is now based in Sydney.
Alvin has become the first dancer on SYTYCD in the world to be invited as a choreographer whilst a contestant in the top 100. Alvin’s choreography is featured in Season 3 of SYTYCD Australia. He has also recently toured with Australian Idol Winner, Stan Walker and featured as a dancer on season 2 of “X-Factor” Australia. Alvin has also coached ABC’s Dance Academy and choreographed for GMA-7, the Philippines’ number 1 TV network.
A versatilite dancer / choreographer, Alvin emerged from a self taught street background. His career in dance began following a successful run in Hip Hop dance competitions and an opportunity to support Sean Paul during his Australian tour. He is the founder of two-time National Hip Hop Champions – “Beatphonik”. His background in both the crew scene and industry make him a favourable judge in dance competitions around the world.
Alvin received a scholarship and completed a full-time professional development course broadening his technique and dance style at Patrick Studios Australia.He has also trained at Millennium Dance Complex, Debbie Reynolds and Broadway Dance Center in LA and NY respectively. Alvin is now the resident Hip Hop coach at Brent Street Studios.
