Lachlan was born in Wollongong and studied dance with the Beverley Rowles School of Dance before training at WAAPA in Perth. Whilst a student, Lachlan worked with a range of leading choreographers including Sue Healy, performing in her work Not Entirely Human, Chrissie Parrott for Baroqoda and Michael Whaites for Into Thin Air.
He also danced in Garry Stewart’s Birdbrain, remounted by Anton and in Nacho Duato’s Jardi Tancat remounted by Kim McCarthy. After graduation in 2008, Lachlan travelled to Adelaide and joined Leigh Warren and Dancers. He performed in Leigh Warren’s Seven and in Impulse which toured to Den Haag for performances at the Holland Dance Festival and later in Frame and Circle choreographed by Leigh Warren and Prue Lang. In 2009 he worked with Australian dance award winner Chris Scherer on the dance film Believe it choreographed and directed by Scherer.
Lachlan joined Sydney Dance Company in March, 2010. He has performed in Rafael Bonachela’s we unfold (2010-2011); Soledad (2010); 6 Breaths (2010-2011); LANDforms (2011); and The Land of Yes & The Land of No (2011). He has also performed in Emanuel Gat’s Satisfying Musical Moments (2010).
In November/December 2011, Lachlan was part of the highly acclaimed tour of Between Breath & Form to New York, Barcelona and London.
