Chris Aubrey

Originally from Sydney, Chris moved to Adelaide in 2001 and studied acting. Through movement classes he developed a strong interest in dance and began training in commercial dance and ballet at two of Adelaide’s best studios.

Diversifying his abilities, he competed in the national sport aerobic championships when he was 17 and 18. His interest in fitness continues and also works as a Personal Trainer with a cert III and IV in Fitness.

Chris graduated from Adelaide Centre for the Arts in 2007 with a Bachelor of Dance Performance. During college he worked with Leanne Ringelstein, Leigh Warren, Aidan Kane Munn, Xiao-Xiong Zhang, Troy Mundy and Peter Sheedy. He also undertook a six month flamenco mentorship with Liana Vargas and performed in Fresh, Fast and Furious. He continues to train in international ballroom, latin and new vogue dancing when the time allows.

Chris joined Australian Dance Theatre in 2007 and performed in G and Be Your Self, completing several European tours. He has performed several times with ADT on Channel 10’s So You Think You Can Dance.

He has also worked with Lina Limosani on The Tighter you Squeeze, Antony Hamilton on RGB and Larissa McGowan on Slack, Zero Sum and her new creation of Skeleton. He also premiered his first work of Apophenia in ADT´s 2010 Ignition season.

Since leaving ADT, Chris has worked with LWD to perform Maria de Buenos Aires at the opening of the Brisbane Festival 2011.

Chris joined Sydney Dance Company in 2012.
