Andrew Crawford

Andrew Crawford grew up in Sydney and attended the Newtown High School of Performing Arts. He later studied at The Royal Ballet School in London (1996-2000) where he received his A-Levels in Dance and Music.  He has been the recipient of a number of scholarships including The Royal Ballet School, the Wall Scholarship, the Joffrey Ballet School, Margaret Chapple Fellowship and the Pearl Pollard Ballet Scholarship.

Andrew has performed with leading companies around the world including The Royal Ballet (London, 1998-2000) in productions of Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, Manon, Swan Lake, La Fille Mal Gardée and The Sleeping Beauty; The Birmingham Royal Ballet (First Artist, 2000-2002) in Romeo & Juliet, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia and David Bintley’s Far From the Madding Crowd and Arthur Part I & II;  Les Ballets Des Monte-Carlo as a Soloist (2002 – 2006) in works by Jiri Kylian, Maurice Bejart, Paul Lightfoot/Sol Leon and Jean-Christophe Malliot; Het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam (2006 – 2007) in a diverse repertoire of works by Krystof Pastor, Rudi Van Dantzig, William Forsythe, George Balanchine and Wayne Eagling.

In Australia, he appeared in the Bruce Beresford film Mao’s Last Dancer (2008) and in  Graeme Murphy’s production of Aida with the West Australian Opera (2008). Most recently, Andrew performed with Christopher Wheeldon’s Morphoses, in New York and London.

Andrew joined Sydney Dance Company in January 2011. He has performed in Rafael Bonchela’s LANDforms (2011); we unfold (2011) and The Land of Yes & The Land of No (2011) and Jacopo Godani’s Raw Models (2011). In November/December 2011, Andrew was part of the highly acclaimed tour of Between Breath & Form to New York, Barcelona and London.
