Biography

Michelle Jank is one of Australia’s most talented and diverse creative consultants. Her creative vision is executed across the worlds of film, fashion, jewelry, costume and theatrical design, show production and styling.As well as showing and exhibiting her own solo garments and jewellery designs, she has collaborated creatively with some of  the world‘s greatest design firms.These have included projects with ACNE; Sweden, Dover Street Market; London, Colette; Paris, Liberty; London, Harvey Nichols; London, Sex and the City/Patricia Field; New York, Please; Paris, Undercover; Tokyo, Ksubi; Australia, Alex Perry; Australia, Collette Dinnigan; Australia, Moet and Chandon, Paspaley; Australia and Carla Zampatti; Australia.Her jewelry and couture designs have been featured in the Italian, French, British and US editions of VOGUE, Elle, Sunday Times Style UK, as well as Harpers Bazaar and Vogue Australia.  The collection is stocked in the world’s leading stores such as: Comme des Garcons Dover St Market London and Colette, Paris.

In 2010 Michelle released a capsule collection of fine jewelry with world renowned jewellers Fairfax and Roberts. Her designs both jewelry and evening wear have been worn by the likes of Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts, Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman, Toni Colette, Chloe Sevigny and Naomi Campbell.

With a wealth of experience in art, design, film, staging and photography, Michelle brings together creative teams to lead clients through all levels of design; from initial inception, editing and styling, to full scale production.

Working with emerging small labels to large luxury houses, she enables designers to elevate their vision, confidently invigorating their own aesthetic, while maintaining the integrity of the brand.Michelle’s stage projects have included costumes and creative direction for the The Sydney Dance Company, collaborations with Aszure Barton and Aszure and Artists for The Netherlands Dance company, The Lobero Theatre Santa Barbara, The Baryshnikov Center for the Arts in New York. Film projects have included collaborations with Collider Films as well as special commissions from ACNE Sweden and Sydney Dance Company.

Michelle also creatively directs and produces large scale catwalk productions for the likes of Myer Australia, ACNE Sweden, Elle Australia, Sportsgirl Australia, her design consultancy clients, as well as the recent retrospective of 40 years of Australian Fashion.

Michelle has been named as an ambassador to the National Gallery of Victoria, has had garments inducted in the permanent collection in the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and the National Gallery of Victoria, and received a citation for her contribution to Fashion Design and the Arts. Michelle lives and works between New York, London, Paris and Sydney, Australia.
